Cork Board Project
I have this huge wood panel with tagging, graffiti, and paintings all over it. Found Art. I think it was used for a party originally and it had a few posters attached which have now been removed leaving 2 big blank spots. Those spots puzzled me for a while, trying to figure out the best thing to go there, that I would not mind looking at constantly. I was going to do a cork board and hang it on the wall somewhere but then decided it would be better attached to my wood panel.
I found a cheap plain cork board at Michael's for around 10 bucks. I tore the whole thing apart and started painting the frame with Black spray paint and choosing fabric for the board. That part was tough. I had too many options, florals and geos, brights, dots. Nothing was working and I finally settled on a neutral dot.
I put it back together and drilled it on to my wool panel (I also used a little hot glue for good measure).
Then I dreamt up a scrolly design and started sketching ideas.
Once I was satisfied that it would work and look cool, I started sketching onto the wood. I had to make my design fit in between the existing stuff and the frame.
Then I just got out the black acrylic and went at it. It didn't take long to get the paint up, the idea and the sketching took longer.
I think it looks fresh! And I enjoy looking at it and changing the stuff on the board. Oh, I got cute little colorful push pins from Target and pinned them on in little flower shapes.

Ive been busy
I made art aprons, bright florals and poka dots for girls and gingham and cowboys for boys. And I made Zip and Button Snake learning toys. They have zipper mouths and a different closure for each body section to help little ones learn how to tie, button, snap, etc and improve their motor skills while they play. I sold quite a few of these. See more here in my new shop, Priziest Pony, which I made just to sell the extra items that didnt sell at the fair.

Finally time to relax. In my first stocking I got a load of yummy candy, a new ipod car charger, and my favorite - GARFIELD!
Look at how cute these chocolates from my sister are! I love the little skully at the bottom and the mad tea party.
I had to indulge, and maybe create a few cavities, with old fashioned hard candy. These used to be around alot at xmas when I was little. I was missing the beautiful ribbon goodness.
Im sooo glad it over!
Ornament Swap
I made Moose ornaments!
I found this little 3 foot pink foil tree, it look really cheezy and cute so I brought it home and decided that it would be my litte handmade ornament tree. Nothing but handmade, and everyday when I get a new ornament in the mail I added it to my little tree.

This Guadalupe Sea shell ornament is one of my favorites, made by Tandy Sibley.
The little blue and White felt stocking is made by Patty Long at mommiesbee.etsy and the green felt tree is made by Norrie Gall.
This felt crown patch with a button is so cute and made byElizabeth Moon at moontimes and the laminated paper tree is made by Joan De Lurio at Anthropomorphco.
They were all really cute and I loved getting a new one in the mail everyday for 2 weeks! I will definately do it again next year and hopefully have lots more ideas for cute ornaments.

the pointy poka dot kitty
I would have liked to do little buttons for the eyes and some yarn hair sprigs possibly, but I kept it really simple and baby friendly using only cotton poplin and felt. I had to keep in mind as I made it that kids like to chew on everything.
See more here.

new seats
My mom, sister and me re-upholstered them.
First we had to remove all of the old fabric and foam from all of the chairs.
Then I cut new foam with an electric knife (think thanksgiving) to fit the size of the chair base.
Next we took big pieces of the new pretty fabric and sandwiched the foam between the new fabric and the wooden chair bases. We had a two person operation stretching the fabric and stapling it to the base.
Last was just trimming the excess fabric from the bottom and re-attaching the seats to all of the chairs.
Voila, new chairs.

My first Quilt
I cut the drawings out first and then cut a million strips of multi colored fabric from our fabric warehouse. That took a loooooong time.

I arranged the colored strips to match each drawing. Then I took the drawings I cut into squares and began sewing the strips around the square. Once the first square was done I changed the fabric and did another square. I did this until each drawing was bordered with 3 squares in different colors.
Then I sewed all 12 of the squares together and began pinning the whole thing to the batting. I used cotton batting instead of the poly fill.

Then the easy part. Pinned the back fabric, a cute red and white pin dot, to the batting and sewing the border.

I had alot of fun with my first quilt, I didnt use any patterns, look at any quilting books, etc. I just freeballed it and I think it turned out quite nice.

The kids really liked seeing all of their drawings made into a quilt. It is now going to auction. Ooh, i wonder how much it will go for?
